Merle’s Wish 4th Annual Football Tournament Raises an Incredible £4,230
The community came together once again for the 4th Annual Merle’s Wish Football Tournament, and what an unforgettable day it proved to be.
Thanks to the remarkable generosity of everyone involved, we are delighted to announce that this year’s tournament raised a fantastic £4,230 for Merle’s Wish.
This was our biggest turnout yet, with players, supporters, volunteers and sponsors joining us for a brilliant day of football, friendship and community spirit. From the opening matches through to the closely contested finals, there was fierce competition, plenty of drama and some fantastic football on display.
Merle’s Wish Trophy
The Merle’s Wish Trophy was won by Merle’s Wish FC, who produced an excellent performance in a brilliant final against Pompey Ringers.
A cracking goal from Reece Williams secured the victory, while captain Kirk Williams kept the team organised and in shape throughout the day.
Pompey Ringers also deserve enormous credit for their outstanding performances across the tournament and finished as worthy runners-up.

Consolation Cup
The Consolation Cup was won by Dal’s Destroyers, who returned to winning ways after being crowned Merle’s Wish Trophy champions at last year’s tournament.
They faced Michael Withnall & Pompey Originals in an incredibly close final. With nothing separating the teams at the end of the match, the contest went all the way to penalties, where Dal’s Destroyers eventually secured the victory.

An Incredible £4,230 Raised
The most important result of the day was the remarkable £4,230 raised for Merle’s Wish.
These vital funds will help Merle’s Wish continue its work supporting people who are bravely battling cancer alone and ensuring they receive kindness, compassion and practical support when they need it most.
A special thank you must also go to Michael Withnall, Dean Williams, Adam Fisher and Tonks – The Property People, who generously donated some of the funds raised through their rowing challenge.
